Our Programs

Our Programs

The Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Program was created to help victims of violent crimes cover expenses for medical, mental health counseling, funeral and crime scene sanitization expenses, as well as loss of income or support.

Our Programs Intro

Over time, our programs have grown to meet the needs of victims, such as accessing unclaimed court ordered restitution from an offender, supporting the placement of a memorial for a loved one killed by an impaired driver and more.

Crime victims can apply directly for Victims Comp, Officers Initiative, DUI Memorial Sign and Unclaimed Restitution Programs. Providers apply on behalf of victims to the Forensic Interview Program and the Forensic Medical Examination Program.

Victims Unclaimed Restitution

Were you or your business the victim of a crime in Georgia? Did the court order the offender to pay money back to you? Is there a possibility you didn’t collect part or all of those funds?

When an offender is sentenced in court, part of their sentence may include paying restitution (money) back to the victim of the crime. When money is unclaimed by a victim or business for more than two years, it is transferred to the Crime Victims Emergency Fund. At that time, the Crime Victims Compensation’s Unclaimed Restitution Program makes attempts to locate and contact the victim or business.

If you have been awarded money that was collected and you haven’t yet claimed it, please contact us at ‪404-657-2222 or 800-547-0060.
