Juvenile Justice Incentive Grant Program
Technical Assistance and Evidenced Based Practices Workshop
Governor Nathan Deal and the Georgia General Assembly appropriated $5 million, during the 2013 legislative session, for the purpose of creating effective community programs to serve youth who are currently being committed to DJJ and/or sent to Short-term Programs as a sanction. To support this effort, the Annie E. Casey Foundation will provide information and technical assistance. To this end, they are hosting a half-day seminar to help demystify the idea of Evidenced Based Practices (EBP) to be conducted in 2 different regions. One will be held on Monday, April 15th in Forsyth, and another will be held on Tuesday, April 16th in Atlanta from 10am to 3pm.
Your jurisdiction will be able to send up to 5 people to participate at one of the seminars. You may want to consider including 1 or 2 judges, 1 or 2 probation staff, someone who will be charged with identifying and procuring programs and services for your county and/or a collaborative partner such as a prosecutor, community service provider, law enforcement or educator. Please register your jurisdiction’s team and include the names, titles and email addresses of expected participants, as well as any food restrictions as lunch will be served. I hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to learn tips or strategies for how to identify effective programs and practices for the population of youth that you serve.
Please register for one of the following two workshop seminars:
