ATLANTA (April 8, 2020) — The Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) is pleased to announce the approval of $3 million in emergency funds for victim services across the state. These funds are to meet the emergency needs of victims caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Allocation of the funds will be prioritized in response to emergencies in local communities throughout Georgia and are available immediately to eligible grant sites serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse.

As the State Administering Agency of the Victims of Crime Act Victim Assistance Grant Program (VOCA), CJCC is authorized to release immediate funding to assist victims of violent crime in emergency situations in which health and/or safety are at risk when other resources are unavailable.

This funding is being made available in addition to the $81 million already awarded to Georgia service providers through VOCA funding this year.
