Governor's Office Update on COVID-19

Yesterday evening, Governor Kemp, DPH Commissioner Kathleen Toomey, and state officials confirmed Georgia’s first cases of COVID-19 involving two individuals in Fulton County. State health leaders, emergency management officials, and the Governor's office have been in constant communication with federal and local partners. 

Georgia Sexual Assault Kit Initiative Expanded

The Georgia Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) is pleased to announce the expansion of the Georgia Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (GA SAKI). Up until now, the GA SAKI Task Force (Task Force) has been solely focused on leading the investigation and prosecution of cold case sexual assaults that result from testing previously unsubmitted or untested sexual assault kits. This expansion will allow the Task Force to use grant funds obtained by CJCC to aid jurisdictions statewide

in the investigation and genetic testing of cold case homicides with sexual assault components and 

in unidentified serial sexual assault cases.

The Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Program has received multiple reports that the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) is being used as part of an imposter scam targeting individuals throughout the country.
