Recovery Act

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) was signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009 in a direct response to the economic crisis. This Act provided additional Byrne- JAG, VAWA and VOCA funding to state agencies and local organizations within the State of Georgia. CJCC was granted a total of $42.3 million from Byrne-JAG, VAWA, VOCA and VOCA Victims Compensation to carry out approved programs. CJCC is also obligated to ensure all that subgrantees adequately perform all agreed-upon services while adhering to the requirements of The Recovery Act.

The Recovery Act has three immediate goals:

  • Create new jobs and save existing ones
  • Spur economic activity and invest in long-term growth
  • Foster unprecedented levels of accountability and transparency in government spending
