The Victim Services Division of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, as the Chair of the Multi-State Agency Victim Services Partnership, is pleased to announce our 6th Annual National Crime Victim’s Rights Week Ceremony and Open House! Each April since 1981, communities throughout the country have come together during National Crime Victim’s Rights Week to promote victims’ rights and to honor crime victims and those who advocate on their behalf. This year’s weeklong observance kicks off with a ceremony and open house hosted by the Victim Services Division in conjunction with the Multi-State Agency Victim Services Partnership.

Our ceremony will have a panel discussion facilitated by Mark Winne from WSB TV Channel 2 Atlanta. The panel will feature Agency Heads from our Multi-State Agency Victim Services Partnership who will be sharing information on the resources available to Georgia victims. In addition to the panel, we will have great entertainment, and a dynamic Victim Testimonial.

Immediately after the ceremony there will be an open house where victims will have an opportunity to:

  • Learn about the types of compensation programs available to victims of violent crime.
  • Talk to Georgia Crime Victim Compensation staff to determine eligibility for additional benefits.
  • Make an appointment with Georgia Crime Victims Compensation staff to discuss the status of a claim.
  • Make an appointment with staff from the State Board of Pardons and Paroles to receive current information on offender (e.g. maximum release date, parole date, where inmate is incarcerated etc.) and register to receive further notification of an offender’s status. Please call 404-651-6668 or 1-800-593-9474 for an appointment or more information.

The event will be held in Forsyth, Georgia at the Department of Corrections, Roberts Chapel located at State Offices South on April 7 beginning at 10 a.m. There will be refreshments, a light lunch, door prizes, giveaways and a children’s corner to occupy the young ones. Please call Dannielle Lewis at 404-657-2075 if you have any questions.

We look forward to seeing you there!
