Planning for the Georgia Victim Assistance Academy (GVAA) is currently underway.

GVAA has been designed to train, educate, and equip crime victim service professionals with current information that will aid and assist crime victims statewide. This is an intense learning opportunity for crime victim advocates. During this immersion experience, participants are exposed to knowledge, practical application, and skill development activities regarding victimology, victim assistance, victim compensation, victim legislation, cultural issues, etc.

The anticipated date for the next GVAA is Spring 2019. The Academy will continue to be offered to advocates with less than three years of experience in victim services and will focus on immediate training needs.

GVAA interested applicants should register and complete all four sessions of the online Victim Assistance Training (VAT) offered through the Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC) prior to attending an Academy. Please contact OVC TTAC directly if you have any problems registering.
