Did you know that in SFY 2010, funding from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council did the following?

  • Supported 24 multi-jurisdictional task forces and K-9 units serving 85 counties (see attached map) to address drug control and/or violent crime problems, collaboratively improve communications, sharing intelligence and resources:
    • The total value of drugs seized by these task forces was $32,462,791
    • The total value of assets seized by these task forces was $1,958,657
    • Seized 107 methamphetamine labs and participated in 605 methamphetamine related investigation.
  • Trained ____ officers in both basic and advanced law enforcement requirements at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center

Did you know that under Recovery Act, during the SFY 2010, funding from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council did the following?

  • Awarded $3,011,233 to the Department of Public Safety to hire and train 24 troopers. As a result, the Georgia State Patrol has been able to resume efficient operations at Georgia's busiest posts which ultimately reduce road fatalities and injuries
  • Awarded $1,855,288 to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to retain 24 Juvenile Probation and Parole Specialists (JPPS) that were at-risk of being eliminated. As a result, staff has been able to provide counseling and case management of youth through the development of plans that focus on the rehabilitation of youth and prevention of further involvement with the court
  • Awarded $1,815,234 to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to improve the timeliness of DUI toxicology and postmortem toxicology reports by creating jobs and training for (10) scientists. After the 18-month training period, scientists will be transitioned to conduct routine toxicology casework responsibilities. In addition, GBI was able to purchase new equipment to assist with training and to reduce the current backlog
  • Awarded $437,239 to the Board of Regents, University System, to develop protocols and policy within the Georgia College and University System to better identify and assist women victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking and dating violence. In addition, emphasis has been placed on developing policies and procedures that will improve communications among campus constituencies, law enforcement, and prosecution
  • Awarded $21,612,152 directly for local criminal justice projects throughout the State of Georgia. Some examples include:
    • Victim advocates and victim witness coordinators
    • Police officers and law enforcement trainers
    • Specialty courts (drug, mental health, etc.)
    • Prosecutors
