On Monday, September 30, 2013, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council approved 154 subgrant awards, totaling $13,342,042, to public and non-profit agencies throughout the State. These subgrant awards, funded by the Victims of Crime Act Assistance Grant Program, S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act Grant Program and the Sexual Assault Services Grant Program, will provide direct services, such as counseling, personal advocacy, court advocacy and support services to victims of crimes including domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, child abuse, human trafficking and elder abuse.

Victims of Crime Act Assistance Grant Program
The Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Assistance Grant Program supports direct services to crime victims (i.e. persons who have suffered physical, sexual, financial, or emotional harm as a result of the commission of a crime). VOCA funds are awarded from the Office for Victims of Crime, the Office of Justice Programs of the United States Department of Justice.

S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act Grant Program
Grants funded by the S.T.O.P. (Services, Training, Officers, Prosecution) Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Grant program has two overarching goals:

  • To foster initiatives that develop and strengthen effective law enforcement, prosecution, adjudication and offender monitoring strategies to combat violent crimes against women; and
  • To foster initiatives that expand and bolster services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence.

VAWA funds are awarded from the Office on Violence Against Women of the United States Department of Justice.

Sexual Assault Services Grant Program
The Sexual Assault Services (SASP) Grant Program supports organizations that provide crisis intervention, advocacy, accompaniment, counseling, and related assistance to:

  • Adult, youth and child victims of sexual assault;
  • Family and household members of such victims; and
  • Those collaterally affected by the victimization, except for the perpetrator of such victimization (e.g. friends, coworkers, classmates).

SASP funds are also awarded from the Office on Violence Against Women of the United States Department of Justice.
