Mr. Joe Vignati

Mr. Vignati has been intimately involved in all aspects of Georgia’s juvenile justice system for the past 35 years, tirelessly serving at-risk youth in a wide variety of roles, both in his career with state government and as a volunteer in community settings. During his tenure with the Governor’s Office, he successfully secured $67 million in federal criminal justice funds for the State of Georgia. 
He was appointed Assistant Commissioner/ Chief of Staff for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice in 2017 and retired from state service after thirty-two years in 2019. 


From 2019-2021, Mr. Vignati served as Chair of the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice (FACJJ) of the U.S. Department of Justice and was responsible for advising the President and the U.S. Congress on juvenile justice matters. 
He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Augusta University in Augusta, GA, and graduated summa cum laude in 1992 with a master’s degree in public administration from Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. 


He and his wife Kathryn live in Tucker and have 4 adult children and 5 cats.
